Aceh Tamiang Regency Strengthens Post-Flood Agricultural Recovery Through Irrigation Pump Assistance
ACEH TAMIANG – GLOBAL INVESTIGASI NEWS
The Aceh Tamiang Regency Government, in collaboration with the Handling, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR), continues to accelerate the recovery of the agricultural sector following the flash floods that struck the region in late November 2025. One of the key measures undertaken is the provision of Irrigation Pump Assistance (Irpom) at 70 locations to strengthen water supplies and support the productivity of rehabilitated rice fields.
Aceh Tamiang Regent stated that agricultural recovery remains one of the local government’s top priorities, as it is directly linked to food security and the welfare of the community. The irrigation pump assistance program is expected to ensure adequate water availability for thousands of hectares of flood-affected rice fields, enabling farmers to resume optimal production.
Speaking on behalf of the Regent, Irwan Hadi, Head of the Food Crops and Plant Protection Division at the Aceh Tamiang Agriculture, Plantation, and Livestock Agency (Distanbunnak), said the program forms part of a comprehensive agricultural recovery effort.
“We are not only focused on clearing agricultural land after the floods, but also on ensuring that supporting facilities such as irrigation pumps are available so that farmers can return to productive farming activities,” Irwan said on Tuesday (June 16, 2026).
Irwan explained that, from a technical perspective, the Aceh Tamiang Government and the PRR Task Force have categorized rehabilitation efforts according to the level of land damage. For moderately damaged areas, rehabilitation is being carried out by the Military District Command (Kodim) 0117/Aceh Tamiang, with a target of restoring 712 hectares of farmland.
As of June 14, 2026, land-clearing operations had covered 428.28 hectares, representing 60.15 percent of the targeted area. Meanwhile, lightly damaged farmland is being restored through the Land Optimization Program (Oplah), which targets 1,961 hectares and is being implemented through community-based mutual cooperation involving local farmer groups.
The recovery program has been underway for six months. Several rehabilitated areas, including rice fields in Manyak Payed District, have already been replanted with paddy crops, signaling encouraging progress in the restoration process.
Through close collaboration between the regional government, the PRR Task Force, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and local communities, the Aceh Tamiang Government remains optimistic that post-flood agricultural rehabilitation will be completed successfully. The initiative is expected to strengthen food security while accelerating the economic recovery of affected communities.
