At a café in Kota Lintang, discussions emerged regarding the historical heritage of old buildings in Kuala Simpang.
Formed spontaneously, the Old City Community held a preparatory meeting for cultural arts performances and heritage tracing activities titled “Reassembling the Roots of History and Cultural Wisdom” at Mabes Café, Kota Lintang, Kuala Simpang District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, on Saturday (27/6/2026).
The meeting was attended by Mustafa, Head of Culture Section at the Education Office of Aceh Tamiang Regency, alongside members of the Old City Community — a group committed to preserving the region’s historic buildings and culture.
Amurdani, coordinator and founding initiator of the Old City Community, stated that Kuala Simpang will serve as a pilot project for documenting and exploring the city’s historical legacy.
He expressed hope that a formal management board for the Kuala Simpang Old City Community will soon be established. “This program will mark the first step toward documenting and reviving various heritage sites, key figures, and significant events that shaped Kuala Simpang’s history,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mustafa welcomed the initiative. He emphasized that preserving history and culture is a shared responsibility requiring support from all elements of society.
Through collaboration between government and community, the event “Reassembling the Roots of History and Cultural Wisdom” is expected to strengthen Aceh Tamiang’s cultural identity while promoting historically valuable tourism that also serves as education for the wider public.
